Daniel’s Survivor Story

survivor From Survivor Daniel Jay Bell : My name is Daniel Jay Bell on November 19, 2011 I was hit by a drunk and lost my right leg. The day started out like any other Saturday met up with the guys for a little ride bouncing from place to place. After our last stop we decided to head to the house and call it a day. We left out and minutes later a drunk driver made an illegal U-turn right in front of me. I slammed into the back of the truck and lost my right leg in the crash. The group that was with me stopped and came to my aid. The driver was found to be over three times the legal limit with his two children in the car. After the accident I didn’t know where to turn because the driver did not have any insurance. I contacted Danny Perkins with B.A.D.D. and told him my story. I happened to have some insurance but Danny responded to me saying he would pay my health insurance premiums for the year while I could not work, total around $10,000.00. Danny also sent me some great items to have at some of the fund raisers that my friends had organized. B.A.D.D. and Danny helped me through a rough time and allowed me to focus on getting back on two feet instead of how I was going to pay the bills. I have since returned to my previous job and my world has almost gotten back to normal. I have also built a 1942 Harley Flathead that I can ride around with the prosthetic. The feeling of getting back on two wheels is amazing and makes me forget everything that has happened. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the amazing things that Danny and B.A.D.D. do for those that have been victims of drunk drivers. Danny, Thank You for all the support has given me! I wanted to let you know that over the three day weekend we were able to raise a total of $11,000 with $1,267 of that being cash donations onsite. I was sure to let everyone that I talked to that B.A.D.D. had given me the means to pay my COBRA for the year. Everyone I talked with was blown away by the generosity. I look foward to starting this new chapter in my life and look forward to the challenge of learning to walk again on my prosthetic. I am going to keep you updated on my progress and hopefully if you every get up this way it would be nice to meet you face to face. Thank You again for everything that you guys have done. I can’t say thank you enough and I hope I was able to point some people in your direction to help with the cause.
